Announcing Jett Michael Thompson!
January 12, 2010 Jett Michael Thompson joined our family! He weighed 7lbs 15oz, was 18 3/4 inches long and was born at 7:49am at Memorial Hospital in Modesto, CA. He was delivered via c-section by Dr. Robert Altman. He was actually scheduled to be delivered on January 18th, but I talked to the doctor about moving his date up. It seems that the Spirit was whispering to me, because when he was delivered we discovered a knot in the umbilical cord that no doubt would have tightened up if we had waited much longer! He's a beautiful healthy little boy and we are so happy to have him!

Playin' With Pictures...
These collages always cut the pictures in a way that does not do them justice, but I hope that you can at least get a feel for what I accomplished on this day. I set out with the goal to get some fabulous pictures of my kids experimenting with back drops that I've noticed in my neighborhood. It was quite a challenge being that I'm 9 months pregnant and was hiking all over the place carrying my tri-pod, a back pack full of accessories, and my camera. The kids weren't all that cooperative given that the weather was a bit chilly, but to my shock and awe; when I uploaded my pictures I found some real jewels!
This one of Paris I shot real quick on the way back to the car. I've been wanting to try playing with a black background, so I threw this piece of fabric over a fence, slapped a sequined hat on her head and said: "smile!" The one of Sophia in the jacket was a last minute decision. She put her jacket back on to get into the car and I thought that she looked so cute that I snapped a few. She is just too photogenic!
I love black and white... probably too much. Check out Sophie's eyes. Ouch!
This is one of the few that I got of all three of them looking at me.

Snow Day!
Every year after Christmas we gather for a day at the snow. This year we went to Shaver Lake and played in the mountains. We stopped playing long enough for some tailgate chili dogs and chips, then picked back up and slid down the slopes until the sun went down. The kids had a great time climbing up and down the snow drifts, and me... well I did my best to keep up.
Santa is Coming to Town!
On Christmas Eve before heading to bed the kids prepared a plate for Santa and some of his pals. The cookies were for Santa, the carrot for Rudolf, and the cheese was for Santa Mouse. Sophia's class read a story about Santa Mouse and she required that we leave some cheese out for the poor fellow that is always forgotten. They left a small cup of eggnog as well. When they woke up the next day they found everything eaten and were very happy to have made Santa's night. Christmas morning was a flurry of wrapping paper and ribbons. Afterward the kids buried themselves in the mess and posed for the annual picture.
A Thompson Christmas as Only We Can Do It!
The extended Thompson Clan met at the Hughson chapel for some food and fun on Christmas Eve. We ate turkey and pies then watched the kids play some games. There was tug-of-war (kids vs. Uncle Jared), an elf relay, and a candy cane toss. Brooke put the games together and did a wonderful job. After the games the adults gathered for a white elephant gift exchange while the youngsters went in the other room to practice for thier nativity play. Grandmother's persimmon cookies were a hot item that quite a few of us fought for. To close the day the children treated us to the reinactment of the night of Christ's birth. Baby Jacob played the roll of baby Christ and wasn't too fond of his "manger." It was a great time. Anytime the Thompson's get together it turns into a party!
It's Christmas in Knights Ferry
December 17th, 2009 Knights Ferry Elementary held their annual Christmas program. Each grade has a song that they sing and they are supposed to come dressed for the part. Paris' class sang "Cowboy Christmas", Brenden's class sang "Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer", and Sophie's class sang "Jingle Bells." This year the kids got a special treat because Daddy was hand chosen to be Santa's helper. After the music program was over Mike came out dressed in his Santa's best handing out candy canes and greeting the kids with a jolly "Ho! Ho! Ho!" Paris, Brenden, and Sophia were so proud to have a daddy that could be Santa's official helper.
Sophie is Growing Up!
Well, to my surprise Sophia discovered her first loose tooth not long after Brenden lost his two. She had it loosened up and pulled out within a week. I can't believe that it's already time for her little smile to change! She actually lost her tooth on my birthday: December 16, 2009. She was excited for the tooth fairy's visit and is already looking forward to the next loose tooth.
